Your quiet moments are yours.
Draft for review — last updated September 2026.
What stays on your computer
Emi Safespace keeps its files in one folder on your computer:
- On a Mac,
~/Library/Application Support/beingai-emi - On Windows,
%APPDATA%\beingai-emi
It holds:
- Your anchoring log — the gratitude and intention entries you write, and the day's water count.
- Your reminders — whether the chime, posture, look-away and hydration nudges are on, and how often.
- Your sign-in — the token that keeps you signed in, your email address, and a copy of your current plan. The token is sent to our service with each request, to prove the request is yours; your anchoring log, your reminders and your cached audio are not.
- Meditations you have played — the audio is downloaded and cached here, so replaying one costs no allowance and works offline.
Your conversations are not on your computer — they are on our servers. No chat is written to your disk. It is kept on our side instead, tied to your account, and deliberately: it is what lets Emi carry on where you left off rather than meeting you as a stranger every time you reopen her. See deleting things below.
You need a free account to use Emi, including the parts that run on your computer — the app asks you to sign in before it opens. Once you are signed in, the anchoring log, the reminders, the daily quote and the audio library keep working with no network connection at all.
What leaves your computer
Emi sends these things to our service, each because that is where the work happens:
- Your email address, when you sign in. It is what a one-time sign-in link is sent to, and what your account is keyed by. Sending that email means handing your address to the mail service we use, which is listed with the others — ask us and we will name it.
- Meditation prompts (every plan). What you ask the session to be about is sent to us. We pass it to the company that writes Emi's words, and then those words to the company that gives her a voice, which turns them into audio. The finished audio is kept on our servers so you can play it again. Every plan includes a monthly allowance — Free starts at three sessions — so this applies even if you never subscribe.
- Chat messages (every plan). Everyday conversation with Emi is sent to our service and passed to the company that writes Emi's words, which produces the reply. The conversation is kept on our servers so she remembers you between sessions. Insight — the longer, credit-metered support conversation — is a Cosmos feature, but the everyday chat is available on every plan.
- Voice input, when you speak instead of typing. The recording is sent to our service and passed to the company that turns speech into text, which sends back what you said in writing. We do not keep the recording.
- Replies you hear aloud. The text of Emi's reply is sent to the company that gives her a voice, to be turned into audio.
- Which version of the app you are running. Emi tells our service her own version number with each request, so that a build too old to work correctly can be told to update rather than failing strangely. It is not tied to you — we count versions, not people.
We use this content to provide the feature and to count your usage against your plan. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train any model of our own.
The companies that help
Emi does not run the AI that writes her words, the one that gives her a voice, or the one that listens to you. Three companies do that for us, on our instructions, and only ever with what each one needs to do its part.
Email info@beingai.com and we will tell you which companies these are. We keep a current list and will answer within 30 days, as the law requires.
- The company that writes Emi's words gets your messages and your meditation requests, and sends back what Emi says. It does not use any of it to train its AI. It holds a copy for up to 30 days to check nobody is misusing the service, then deletes it.
- The company that gives Emi her voice gets the words she is about to say — your side of the conversation is never sent, only hers — and sends back the audio. We have opted out of it being stored: it is not kept once the audio is made, and it is not used to improve their own products.
- The company that turns speech into text gets the recording when you talk to Emi, and sends back what you said in writing. It is sent only so it can be read: we do not ask them to keep it, and their service does not store recordings or use them to improve its AI unless a customer turns that on, which we have not.
Your recording itself is never stored — not by us, and not on your computer. Only the text it becomes goes any further.
One thing worth being clear about: we do not remove your name or personal details from what you write before sending it on. Your messages and meditation requests arrive exactly as you typed them, because that is what lets Emi's reply make sense.
Where your data is kept
Emi runs on computers rented from a hosting company in the United States, and that is where your account, your conversations and your meditations are kept. If you are outside the United States, using Emi means your data is sent there.
There is one exception. When you speak to Emi, the recording goes to the company that turns speech into text, and we do not currently limit which country that happens in. Nothing is kept there — only the written words come back — but the sound of your voice may travel outside the United States on its way to being read.
What our servers record on their own
Like any web service, ours writes down the requests it receives: the time, what was asked for, whether it succeeded, and the IP address it came from. We use these records to keep the service running and to investigate abuse — not to build a picture of you. We do not keep them longer than 30 days.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. When you sign in here, your sign-in token is held in the browser tab's own storage and is discarded when you close the tab.
What your account holds
We sign you in with a one-time link sent to your email — there are no passwords to store or leak. Your account holds:
- Your email address.
- Your plan, whether it is active, when it renews, and what it costs — kept in step with the company that handles payments.
- How much of this month's allowance you have used: guided sessions, credits, and any top-ups.
- Every meditation you have generated — its title, the prompt you wrote, the script, and the audio. This is the one thing you write that we keep.
How long we keep it
- Your conversations — until you clear them or close your account.
- Your meditations, with their prompts and audio — until you delete them or close your account.
- Your account — until you ask us to delete it.
- Voice recordings — not kept at all, by us or by the company that reads them.
- Request logs — we keep these no longer than 30 days.
- Backups — our database is backed up continuously and those backups are kept for 30 days. Something you delete is removed from the live service straight away, and ages out of the backups over that period.
Deleting things
- Your conversations. Open Emi, go to Account → Your data, and choose Clear conversation. Every message between you and Emi is removed from our servers, and she starts the next conversation knowing nothing of it. Your meditations, anchoring log, water count, and plan are not affected. If you are on an older build and do not see that option, email info@beingai.com and we will erase it for you.
- A meditation. Deleting one in the app removes the recording and the prompt you wrote from our servers as well as from your computer. The session it used is not added back to your monthly allowance.
- Everything on your computer. Deleting the
beingai-emifolder — named in full above for each platform — removes the anchoring log, the reminders, the cached audio, and your sign-in. - Cancelling your plan. Cancelling stops the billing. It does not delete anything — your account and your saved meditations stay as they are.
- Your whole account. Sign in to your account page on this website and choose to delete your account — or email info@beingai.com and ask, if you would rather a person did it. We mark the account for deletion straight away: it stops being usable and stops being billed, and it stays recoverable for 30 days in case you change your mind. After that it is erased — your conversations, your meditations and their audio, your usage, and the account itself. Four things outlive it, and you should know which:
- Our payment company keeps the invoices, because tax law requires it.
- Anything already in a backup ages out over the backup window above.
- A single line recording that a deletion happened — your account id, the date, and whether it succeeded. Nothing about what was deleted.
- The payment-event ids we have already processed, so that a repeated message from our payment company cannot accidentally recreate your account.
Payments
Payments are handled entirely by a payment company, which takes your card details directly and tells us only whether the payment went through and which plan you are on. Emi never sees or stores your card number.
Your rights
Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy of it. Some of that you can do yourself — clearing a conversation, deleting a meditation — and the rest is one email to info@beingai.com. We answer within 30 days. We will not charge you for asking, and we will not treat you differently for having asked.
Children
Emi is not for children. You must be at least 16 to have an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete it and everything in it.
When this policy changes
If we change something material — a new company handling your data, a new kind of information collected, a shorter or longer time we keep it — we will say so on this page and email the address your account is registered to before the change takes effect. The date at the top is always the date of the version you are reading.
Who we are
Emi is made by beingAI Corporation, of 750 Alma Lane, Ste 100 #4670, Foster City, CA 94404, USA. That company decides what is collected and why, and is who this page means by “we”.
Other policies
Emi is one of several things beingAI Corporation makes, and the company has a privacy policy covering all of them at https://beingai.com/privacy-policy/. This page is the one written for Emi, so where the two differ about Emi, this page is the one that applies. The terms of use work the same way.
Getting in touch
Questions about your data go to info@beingai.com. You do not need to email us to delete your account — that is on your account page. Emi's wellbeing scope and safety commitments are described on the wellbeing & safety page.
